Analysis #3

For this analysis assignment, your objective is to connect the abstract concepts we covered in class with the concrete examples provided in the Pew case studies #214 Guinea-Bissau and #295 Sex or Sewing? You are limited to 3 pages typed, following the Standard Format for Written Work detailed in your course syllabus.

For this paper, choose any three concepts we have covered in the course as your focus.  Among the many you might consider include: globalization, human rights ideals, development issues, sustainable development, comprehensive wealth, the Cold War struggle for balance of power, the global economy, foreign direct investment, emerging economies, and national power.  You may choose only one of the theories to discuss (realism, liberalism OR Marxism).  If you choose the theories, make sure you address the main tenets of that theories and keep in mind that you can't mix theoretical tenets.

The body of your paper should follow this format:

Paragraph 1:  A brief summary (2-3 sentences) of the case followed by an introduction of the three concepts you are covering

Paragraphs 2, 3: Each paragraph should include a brief explanation of the concept, followed by an analysis of how both cases relate to that concept

Paragraph 4:  A brief conclusion of how the real-world situation described in the case helps you to better understand the abstract concept of the theory or the state; also consider how the concept helps you to better understand the situation described in the case
