excursion introduces you into the culture and history of Nicaragua by
knowing the museums, parks and historical sites of the Capital of the
Republic since 1852, located next to Lake Xolotlan or Managua; it is the
main entrance for visitors to the country. The tour begins by a visit to
Acahualinca Footprints Museum, showing us foot sprints from humans and
animals escaping from a volcano eruption between 6.000 to 10.000 years
ago. Then we will visit historical sites like: Park of Peace, National
Theatre , the National Palace of Culture, the Central Park, The Old
Cathedral destroyed by the 1972 earthquake , the Presidential House, the
waterfront, Tiscapa Hill Historical Park, the new Metropolitan Cathedral
being the last built in the past century reason why is today the most
modern cathedral of our time. Our trip will continue to the city of
Masaya; located only twenty minutes from Managua, to admire the
majestic and imposing crater of Masaya Volcano at 635 meters high from
sea
level;
you can reach the crater directly by car. You will also enjoy a
magnificent view of its enormous crater, considered to be one of the
most actives of Nicaragua. In the Park you will also visit the
Interpretation Centre where you will receive an explanation about the
volcanic activity in Nicaragua. After admiring this National Park, we
will continue to the town of Masaya, Nicaraguan capital of folklore and
handicrafts, and the richest in terms of handicrafts in Central America.
The artisans of Masaya are known for making beautiful hammocks of
international fame, woodworks, sculpted masks, clay ceramics and
handmade embroidered blouses. In Masaya you will have the opportunity to
choose between a great number of local souvenirs to take to your family
and friends.
About the Masaya Volcano National Park & Handicraft Market
This is only
twenty minutes from Managua: Admire the majestic and imposing crater of
Masaya Volcano at 635 meters high from sea level; you can reach the
