Critical Thinking & Reasoning

The purpose of this assignment is help you develop your critical thinking and reasoning skills that you will, in turn, use in writing your literature review.  Answer the below questions for each of the following articles:

  1. What is the issue that the author seeks to address in the article?  Essentially you are identifying what the main argument is for the article.  Summarize the main argument in no more than two sentences.
     
  2. Identify the main sub-points/ sub-arguments the author makes to support his/her main argument.  Bullet point the primary pieces of evidence the author uses to support his/her main argument.   Essentially you are identifying the key information the author provides to supports his/her main argument.  Avoid listing minor details such as statistics, examples, etc., as these are not primary pieces of evidence.
     
  3. How convinced are you by the argument made in the article and why?
